Miss Alsop was born 1935 in Back Lane. A newly built Clegg Hill Drive may have next provided her family home, from where in time, Lila did express gratitude when naming some Huthwaite New Street School teachers for helping nurture her lifelong passion in both written and spoken words. Traditional English and American poetry did nevertheless, only represent a few of her widely varied interests, after gaining inspiration from both industrial and social environments amongst scenic countryside.

Mrs Broadhurst traced her ancestry back into the 11th century. Found amidst 17th century members of Oxford and Cambridge coterie, were Vicars and Rectors of Blackwell, Crich and Shirland churches. A passion for reading, music and travel is also evident through a broad range of roles. From grape picking in France, Lila worked the Butlin's Camp, to claim positions of dance teacher, choreographer and entertainer, before branching further as a newspaper correspondent. And, from Nippy waitress to Cook in London's Lyons Corner House, this housewife and mother was also a qualified chef.

Retiring from work in catering management at their Rooley Avenue address in Sutton with husband Harry (Hal), Lila not only continued pubic speaking with membership of an Association of Speakers Club, but also held Area Presidency in addition of twice being Local President of the A.S.C.

These poems from Lila's published book are featured by Mr Raymond Hardy in Auckland, New Zealand upon his own genealogy site. Offering a 2005 link reveals his Huthwaite relations, which may have bonded a friendship with her relocated brother Cyril.
