My father expands our family album following a lifetime of changes fronting many past scenes. A large mining family from Pinxton finds his grandparents William and Ellen bringing our Elliott line working at New Hucknall Colliery. Parents Charles and Dora set up their modestly comfortable family home at 80 Blackwell Road where they raised three children named Roy, Ann and Kay. Family holidays typically favouring Skegness, usually staying among its numerous caravan sites.
Marrying June Walker, they set up home top end of Main Street, fronting John Davies School. That terraced property still had a coal house and outside toilet, but just outside the back door saving cold walks down the yard. We did however, have a modern indoor bathroom, but with Lesley joining Lynn and I, they next purchased a larger modern semi on Sherwood Street.
