The National Coal Board obviously kept full records of all its company employees. Nobody seems sure if hand written accounts still exist spanning the long life of New Hucknall Colliery, so it remains impossible naming thousands of previous miners at our Huthwaite pit. However, I'm pleased to present here pages from one of the original NCB shift registers held by Mick Bostock. This one Lamp Room book daily recorded every mine worker at New Hucknall Colliery dating between October 1978 to June 1979. All were allocated a works or motti tag number, indexing the paged views below focusing interest onto the listed names. Surface or Pit Top staff were reserved the first 300 numbers, beyond which are identified regular Underground staff.
