Huthwaite Online WW2 Remembrance

Edward Walker is discovered as another very deserving addition worthy of future Huthwaite War Memorial roll of honour.

Private 4860127 Edward Walker was born 27th November 1918 in Huthwaite. Parents marriage 26th Jan 1907 between coal miner Mr George Herbert Walker and Miss Harriett Kinsey held 37 Newcastle Street address through 1939 census. Confirming three known children mothered by Mrs Harriett Walker is Joseph Arthur 1908, Kate Elizabeth 1909, before youngest Edward.

Mr Edward Walker is last working as Lime Quarry Labourer. Military service records only exposed fathers 1914 WW1 enlistment. But unlike his discharge deemed an unsuitable soldier, Edward was clearly accepted for WW Two active service. Unfortunately that leaves Pte 4860127 E Walker ultimately recognised serving 1/5th Leicester Regiment of Royal Engineers when killed in action 19th December 1943, aged 25.
