My father Roy Elliott expands our family album following a lifetime of changes fronting many past scenes. A large mining family from Pinxton finds his grandparents William and Ellen bringing our Elliott line working at New Hucknall Colliery. Parents Charles and Dora set up their modestly comfortable family home at 80 Blackwell Road, raising three children, Roy, Ann and Kay also with holidays, typically favouring Skegness.
Marrying June Walker, Roy set up house on Main Street, fronting John Davis School. That terraced property still had a coal house and outside toilet, but just outside the back door saving cold walks down the yard. We did enjoy a modern bathroom, however, with three kids a larger, much more modern semi upon Sherwood Street was where I with two sisters, Gary, Lynn and Lesley became fully raised, nearby schools and shops.
